CANCELLI, Stefano -
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stef Cancelli at the age of 57, on Friday, May 22, 2020.
Dearly beloved husband of Tammie. Loving son of Pasquale and Anna Cancelli. Cherished brother of Susy. Dear son-in-law of Lillian and the late Maurice Chicorli. Stef had many joys, talents and passions in his life. He loved producing and making music. He found the sky to be intriguing and developed a love for deep sky imaging through astrophotography. Stef had the ability to retain information and was a very clever problem solver which enabled him to be an expert in the field of computer programming. A loving partner in marriage and a partner in making dreams come true. A deep thinker, a gentle soul, an embracing smile, kind to all and the biggest heart. He touched many people’s lives and will live on in their hearts and memories for an eternity. We are so very grateful for all the love and care given to Stef by the Etobicoke General Hospital Medical Team. Private funeral arrangements. A live stream link will be available soon and will be posted when available. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society or St. Benedict Church would be appreciated. Online condolences at

A voice from a time long ago, expressing my sadness at hearing of the passing of this talented man. It has always been with a smile that I remember Stef and remember the gracious chance he gave me to write lyrics for him and for Tammie to sing. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss Tammie........Les Stroud

It is with great sadness to hear of the passing of my childhood friend, Stefano. We met in Grade 5, if I remember correctly, when I transferred to Our Lady of Victory School in the Borough of York way back when. I was the ‘Mangia Cake’ hanging around with a bunch of Italian kids. Our connection was Music. He played clarinet and I played trumpet. We grew up in Band together.
It was Stefano who convinced me to go to St. Michael’s College School. I had no thoughts or plans to go to St. Mike’s. That decision became pivotal in forming what would become my future life career. One simple decision to follow a friend ends up shaping your life’s endeavours. Imagine.
Stef and I continued our Musical passions playing in the St. Mike’s Orchestra and Stage Band. I then got exposed to Musicals and performing on stage. That is when I met Tammie. We performed in the Sound of Music together. A lot of fond memories with Stef and Tammie.
I’ve given this much thought over the past 40 years. If it weren’t for Stefano pushing me to go to St. Mike’s with him back in 1977, I would have missed out on an unbelievable exposure to culture and stage experience offered at St. Mike’s. More importantly, I would not have had the breadth of stage experience to take with me into a Sales career and realize the degree of success I have with the same degree of confidence.
Life is about the little decisions we make along the way. A long time ago, I decided to become Stefano’s friend. I’m pretty sure that was one of the best decisions of my life. I will be forever grateful.
Godspeed my friend.

Dear Zio Pasquale, zia Anna, Susy and Tammie,
we are deeply sad for Stef's death. We are also still full of sadness for the loss of our mother, three moths ago. Now Stef's departure has increased our sorrow.
In this last period each day Marisa gave us news about Stef's fight against his misterious disease. Our mother had very similar troubles in her path to death. Although physically far away, we feel sincerely near to all of you. Be sure of our prayers, be strong in this very difficult moments.
With love,
Emidio and Maurizio
