Obituary for Irving Howard Dundas

Irving Howard Dundas
DUNDAS, Irving -
After a short battle, Irving Howard "Irv" Dundas passed away peacefully in Toronto early Wednesday morning, April 26, 2017, at the age of 83. Survived by the immediate family he was devoted to - daughter Deborah (Patrick McCormick), son Andrew (Kim Ritchie) and grandchildren Abigail and Matthew McCormick and Lindsay and Ben Dundas. He will be greatly missed by brother James Dundas (Sue) of Buckhorn and Janice Pearce (Bruce) of Edmonton, sister-in- law Ida Dundas (Frank) of Mississauga and his many nieces and nephews. Irv was predeceased by his mother Dorothy, father Charles, brother Franklyn, sisters Alma Jarvis and Elizabeth (Betty) Hamon, brothers-in-law Malcolm Hamon and Joe Jarvis and nephews David Dundas and Joe Jarvis Jr. Irv battled cancer many times over the years - in his early 20s and again in his 70s and 80s. He made the most out of life, making friends and drawing smiles and laughter wherever he went - whether the golfing community at Scarlett Woods Golf Course, his neighbours in his hometown of Toronto and, more recently, in Whitby. He made a point of getting to know people, giving help and guidance where he thought it was needed and always providing a supportive and loving presence. And he always loved a good get together. Many thanks to the team on the 10th floor at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto for their care and support and to the staff at Bridgepoint Health where he spent his final few days in palliative care. Family and friends are invited to join us in remembering Irv and celebrating his life at the NEWEDIUK FUNERAL HOME, W.C. TOWN CHAPEL, 110 Dundas Street East in Whitby with a visitation on Monday, May 1st from 7-9 p.m.; a funeral service will be held there on Tuesday, May 2nd at 11 a.m., followed by a reception at the Gryphon Pub, 114 Dundas Street East, where we'll raise a glass of cheer in Irv's memory, just as he'd want. Donations, in lieu of flowers, to the Canadian Cancer Society or Diabetes Canada would be greatly appreciated. Condolences may be expressed online at www.wctownfuneralchapel.com
