Obituary for Anna Arniotis

ARNIOTIS, Anna -
Our family is saddened to announce the passing of our much-loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt Anna (Ioanna) Arniotis, on Monday, March 20, 2023. Anna was born on March 29, 1926, in St. Johns, Sparta, Greece. There she met her husband of 70 years, Theodore. Anna first arrived by herself and went to work in Montreal, Quebec. Anna soon moved to Toronto, where she would sponsor her sister, soon-to-be husband Theodore, and her brother to Canada. Anna was a hard worker all her life. She began on the family farm in Greece, worked as a seamstress, helped in the family restaurants, and raised her children. Anna dearly loved her sons, Jim (Jennifer), Constantine (1956-1960), and Peter (Nina). Anna expressed her love for her family through her kind words, warm smile, and unrivalled cooking and baking. Anna baked her own bread, made her own filo pastry, and made all kinds of sweets, such as Kourabiedes and Melomakarona cookies. Anna will be greatly missed by her seven grandchildren, Joanna (Jay), Ted (Tasha), Ted (Amy), William (Samantha), James (Amber), Sophia (Dillon), Alyssa and two great-grandchildren, Lincoln and Ryleigh. To this day, no one can make a salad or French fries that are as good as Yayas'. We all hold close to our hearts the memories of how Anna cared for us as a family. She was never too busy or too tired to make each one of us feel special and loved. A funeral service will be held at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 1 Brookhaven Drive, Toronto, Ontario, M6M 4N6, on Friday, March 24, 2023 at 10 a.m. Interment at Sanctuary Park Cemetery, 1570 Royal York Road, Etobicoke, Ontario, M9P 3C4. Makaria luncheon will follow at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church. Online condolences at newediukfuneralhome.com
