Obituary for Ralph Francis McCloskey

McCLOSKEY, Ralph Francis -
Long-time Member UA Local 46.
Ralph was born on August 4, 1943 and spent his childhood on the family farm in Emyvale, Prince Edward Island. As a young man, he completed trade school in PEI and moved to Toronto. He found work as a pipefitter/plumber, working on many large Toronto buildings including the CN Tower. He was very proud of his work and became well respected for his work ethic and skills. He married the love of his life and started a family, spending his free time indulging his great love of hockey as both a player and a coach for junior leagues. An active member of St. John the Evangelist, Ralph was a regular volunteer and a Knight of Columbus for many years. He spent his later years with his family celebrating every milestone birthday and holiday together. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports. Ralph passed unexpectedly with his family by his side at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on March 18, 2023 at the age of 79. Loving dad of Kim Whalen (Shaun), Tammy McCloskey (Tony Mujan), and Krista McCloskey (William Kenny). Proud grandad to Erin, Shannon, Paige, Colton, Megan, Mick, Lily, Finn and great-grandad to Eden. Dear brother of Fr. Louis McCloskey of PEI, Alma Gallant of Hamilton, Ruth Curley of PEI, the late Wilfred McCloskey, and the late Paul McCloskey. He will be fondly remembered by the mother of his children Rosalie McCloskey and dearly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at W.C. Town Funeral Chapel, 110 Dundas Street East, Whitby on Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 2 – 4pm and 7 – 9pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist, 903 Giffard Street, Whitby on Friday, March 24, 2023 at 1:30pm. Cremation to follow with interment at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
