Obituary for Riccardo Colosimo
COLOSIMO, Riccardo -
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Riccardo. On January 18, 2023 at St Micheals Hospital in Toronto at the age of 81 years old. He will be leaving behind his beloved wife with whom he had been married to for 35 beautiful years. Riccardo was the cherished uncle of Maria and Loredana with whom he raised as his own daughters. Riccardo was a father figure to many, even his nieces Silvanna and Diana he treated them like his own. Riccardo loved all his family near and far. He had many nieces and nephews in Australia, Italy, and Thunder Bay and loved them all. Riccardo was the dear brother of Peter, Ottavio, Domenico, Vincenzo, Gaspere, Guiseppe, Saverio, Rosina, Michelina, Angelina, Elvira, Ida,
Predeceased by his parents Gabrielle and Maria Colosimo.
Riccardo arrived in Canada in 1967 were he lived with his sister Elvira and brother-in-law Carlo Ristagno until he married Teresa in 1987 and that is when there true love story began. Ricardo had many passions, gardening was one in which he loved to share all his harvest with all his family and friends. He continued all of his Italian traditions, making sausages in the winter and making jars of sauce in the summer and many other canning preservatives for all to enjoy.
Riccardo and Teresa would do there road trips twice a year when possible to Thunder Bay where he could visit with all his extended family. Thunder Bay was his second home, he never complained about the distance to travel, he said he enjoyed the drive. He was truly loved by everyone he met and who knew him. Once you met him you never forget him, always full of life, joking, laughing and never complained about anything.
Our hearts are broken and a part of us went with him. Heaven has gained another angel and he is watching over all of us.
