Obituary for Vena Furlano (Giglietta)
FURLANO, Vena (Giglietta) -
With great sadness we announce the passing of Vena Furlano. She passed peacefully, surrounded by family on December 9, 2022. Our beloved Mother died at the age of 97. Loving wife of Francesco Furlano for 15 years until his death in 1967.
Devoted mother of Vittoria (Vittorio), Antonio, Caterina (Vincenzo) and Bruno. Dear grandmother of Marianna (Gerald), Sara (Joe), Joey (Lisa) and Frankie (Christine). Cherished great-grandmother of Ella, Sebastian, Lucas and Olivia. She will be remembered by extended family and many friends.
After immigrating to Canada from Italy, through many hardships this resilient woman has persevered. Following the tragic loss of her husband Francesco in 1967, Vena raised four children on her own in a foreign land. She was tough, strong, loving and caring, kept an immaculate house and her tomato sauce and latte café were to die for. She was the sole provider on a fixed income. Her goal at a chance for a better life was fulfilled and this legacy will live through her children, grandchildren and great grand children who were blessed to have her in their lives.
Visitation will be held at NEWEDIUK FUNERAL HOME, KIPLING CHAPEL, 2058 Kipling Avenue, Etobicoke (north of Rexdale Boulevard), on Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass to take place at St. Benedict’s Church (2194 Kipling Avenue, Etobicoke, ON M9W 4K9) on Friday, December 16, 2022 at 10:30 a.m.
Interment to follow at Prospect Cemetery (1450 St, Clair Avenue West, Toronto, Ontario M6E 1C6) Tel: 416-651-4040.
