Obituary for Marlene Beatrice Dunning (Hummel)

DUNNING, Marlene Beatrice -

“Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?”

Marlene Beatrice Dunning (née Hummel), also known as “Squeak” to a loving few, passed away– after holding on as long as she could, surrounded by family and friends on December 7, 2022 at Lakeridge Health in Oshawa, Ontario.

Survived by her husband Reg, three sons David, Andrew and Joseph, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many close friends–¬¬ too many to mention.

Born and raised in Ontario’s beautiful north, alongside her three brothers– Gary, Tom and Brent and sister Valerie. Marlene was always at home and felt complete when she was in the outdoors. There are many fond memories of camping at Algonquin park with her family, especially at Tea Lake.

Marlene was a very complex person but very simplistic in terms of what made her happy. All she wanted was to see her boys, spend time with their families and be close to her best friend and husband Reg of 57 years. Married on August 2, 1965 in Fenelon Falls, Ontario, they lived all over the country landing in Vancouver, Winnipeg, Montreal, and finally Toronto, before moving to Whitby to raise their three boys.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday December 17, 2022 from 12:00 - 4:00pm at W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL, 110 Dundas Street East, Whitby.

In lieu of flowers, if you can, donations can be made to Covenant House (https://covenanthousetoronto.ca) or the Scott Mission. (https://scottmission.com) For online condolences, please visit www.wctownfuneralchapel.com.
