Obituary for Gilbert Antoine Khoury

KHOURY, Gilbert Antoine -
Gilbert Antoine Khoury, born on May 11th, 1935, son to Adele Kerba and Antoine Khoury, brother to Elie, Mireille (both predeceased), Germaine and Issa, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2022. In a true testament to their great love story and a bond that transcends Heaven and Earth, Dad gained his wings just forty-three days after his beloved wife (and our amazing mom), Marni, gained hers. Together in Heaven, they now watch over their family and friends, including the children who made him so proud, Deborah, Michael, Julie, Patrick, and Charles; loving sons-and-daughters-in-law Frank, Lesley, Dave, Brenda, and Linda, and the many grandchildren, great-grand children, and bonus family members who adored him as their Gedo.
Dad lived a life guided by a passion for knowledge, a generosity of spirit, and a deep and abiding love of family. His journey took him from his childhood home of Alexandria, Egypt to Montreal, Quebec to study at MacDonald College/McGill University. His life changed forever in a crowded university dining hall when he first laid eyes upon Marni, the young lady who would become his beautiful bride and beloved companion for the next sixty-seven adventure-filled years of marriage. Dad was a man who successfully opened international markets around the world for his career as an Export Manager at Canada Packers, but was always eager to come home to his warm and loving home filled with family, art, great food, and laughter. Kind, gracious, extremely thoughtful and unfailingly generous, Dad was a natural storyteller with an easy, booming laugh, always ready to share his wisdom and hospitality. He felt much love for his adopted country of Canada and was instrumental in helping settle many of his incredible family members over the years by sharing his home, expertise, and support. Dad, we will miss you so much, but your curiosity, quiet strength, gentle spirit, and steadfast devotion to Mom have left an indelible mark on the lives of so many. The life you lived and the love you showed have set an incredible example which we will always strive to follow in our own lives.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
