OBUCH, Antonina -
Antonina Obuch, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2022 at the Etobicoke General Hospital at the age of 89 leaving behind a family who loved her. She was born in Regetow, Poland on January 2, 1933 and was the 3rd youngest of 6 children to Ivan and Anna Moroch. She married in Poland and in October 1964 immigrated to Canada with her husband Daniel and two young sons. Shortly after, her daughter was born. In her early years she was a nurturing mother and devoted wife creating a loving home for her family. When she become a grandmother, this was the greatest joy in her life. She leaves behind 7 adoring grandchildren who she babysat full time. She also leaves behind 3 great grandchildren. Antonina was the pillar who kept the family together and her happiest memories include times spent at the cottage with family. In the spring of 2021, Antonina became a member of Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre family where she made many new friends, started playing the harmonica and where she received exceptional care. We are forever grateful to the staff at the UCCC for providing her with such a warm and loving environment during her last few months with us. Antonina leaves behind many beautiful memories which will be cherished forever and we are blessed to have had her in our lives. She will always be remembered for the loving, gentle and selfless woman that she was who had an incredible gift to make you smile. May she rest in peace now in God's care.
Visitation will be held at NEWEDIUK FUNERAL HOME, KIPLING CHAPEL, 2058 Kipling Avenue, Etobicoke (North of Rexdale Boulevard), on Thursday, November 10th from 4-8pm. Panakhyda to take place at 7pm.
Divine Liturgy will take place at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church, 135 La Rose Avenue, Etobicoke on Friday, November 11, 2022 at 1:00pm. Interment to follow at St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Cemetery, 1280 Dundas Street West, Oakville.
