Obituary for Vincenza Meffe

MEFFE, Vincenza (nee Carovillano) -

Vincenza, known as Gini to some, loving wife to Nicola for 65 years, passed away early Tuesday morning September 27, 2022, in her condo after a 14-week difficult stay in hospital. She was 87 years old. Born on May 30th, 1935, in the tiny village of Torella del Sannio, Campobasso, Italy; she arrived in Toronto in 1953 with her father Antonio Carovillano. Sister to; Rosa, Maria and Antonetta, and daughter to Palma (nee Di Placido), and survived by sister Giuseppina. She married the love of her life Nicola on May 1955. She was mother to Silvano (Maryam), and Domenic (Donna), and grandmother to Veronica, Nicolas, Julia, Sofia, Emma, and Sara, the joys of their life.

Vincenza and her life love Nicola shared a deep love of family and friends. She worked hard from the time she was just a little girl in Italy, motivated by unrelenting love and desire to provide love and comfort to all her family and friends.

Their extraordinary work effort began with collecting pop bottles in 1955 for a penny each! And never stopped since. Working everyday and several jobs they provided a very comfortable quality of life and opportunity for their entire family.

Their extraordinary love of family and friends meant that there was always a lasagna ready for the serving at a moments notice. There was never a party, celebration or get together that she would miss or not host, and she always had loving hugs and words of encouragement for all to be brave. Always saying “Forza!!”.

Vincenza had a profound love for her husband, family, friends, and all the joys of life. She travelled from Alaska, Tunisia, Argentina, and Brazil, always smiling, laughing, and making many new friends along the way. She taught her sons to reach for the stars and overcome hurdles.

In short, Vincenza was the greatest gift two sons, and their families could have ever dreamed for.
