I had the privilege of working with Jim as a fellow Tool and Diemaker at GM in Dept. 39. We had lots of conversations over many coffees, but mostly tons of laughs! I was the one that sold Jim that Sprite trailer for his lake lot. I was so looking forward to having a coffee with my old buddy when COVID subsided, I'm saddened this will not happen. He was a great man that will be missed. I'm so sorry for your loss, girls.

I first met Jim in 2002, in the early formation stage of Durham Region Folk Circle. We started in members' homes, but the group grew very quickly, and we found friendly space in Royal Canadian Legion on Hunt St., Ajax. After several years, we found friendlier space at RCL Br 606 on Bayly St., Pickering, where we remained until Covid19 shutdown. Over the years, I was blessed to provide bass guitar behind Jim and dozens of DRFC members, both at monthly Circle meetings, and in spinoff groups The ShedDogs and The Folkers, and in several other venues. RIP, Jim, and play on in the Angel Band. Banjoman Eric and Geetar Pete are expecting you... Don't be late. JayCee

My heart and thoughts go out to all the family. Jim certainly was a very special and talented man. His spirit will go on through his amazing art and music, which he shared with his family and friends. You can all cherish the special memories you had as a family. I remember the last conversation I had with Jim. It was Christmas Day at Alain and Sarah’s house. We shared our experiences with our love of art, discussing our techniques and love of painting. We also shared our love for our grandchildren, Oliver & Violet, he was so proud of them both, and bursing to share lots of happy times he had with them. His spirit and talents will live on through them.
Rest In Peace Jim
Hug to the family love Anne ❤️💕

I am so very sad to learn of Jim's passing. I knew him for many years through music at the Durham Folk Circle and the wonderful jam sessions he hosted at his home on King St. in Whitby. For several years we collaborated in a group called the ShedDogs. I have such fond memories of those times. Jim was so talented and played several instruments, eventually adding vocals and recording many of our sessions, then sharing copies of the recordings with us. I have been listening to some of them recently and I'm so very grateful for his generosity, musical friendship and the time he gave to others. He was a man of many talents and great compassion......gone too soon and will be missed by so many. My deepest condolences to Terrie and his family. I'm very glad to hear his beloved cottage remains a special place for the family to gather and appreciate his spirit. RIP dear Jim, and "play on" into the mysitc .

Although I did not have the good fortune to meet your Dad Sarah, his paintings have brought a smile to my face. The stories you have told of him bring appreciation for his gifted expression through music, which continue to exist through your beautiful voice. Your cottage is a beautiful tribute to the special place your Dad enjoyed! Wishing you and your family comfort and peace.
