Obituary for Marie Lorraine Chan King Choy (Tang Chong)

CHAN KING CHOY, Marie Lorraine -

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marie Lorraine Chan King Choy at Etobicoke General Hospital on January 3, 2021. She has fought a good fight, and the Lord has called her to her eternal resting place. Loving mother of Roger Cyril and the late Elise. Proud grandmother of Mervyn, Christina Sit Yee, and Nathalie Chan. She is survived by her sister Gisèle and son-in-law Eddie Sit Yee. Marie will be fondly remembered by her family and many friends.

Born in Mauritius, Marie Lorraine immigrated to Toronto, Canada, in 1974 to reunite with her daughter, Elise who was married to Eddie Sit Yee. As a widow (late husband Henry), she dedicated herself to the care of her family - daughter Elise and son Roger Cyril (wife Monique), and to her grandchildren - Mervyn and Christina Sit Yee, and Nathalie Chan.

Marie Lorraine moved into Revera Westside in 2005, and spent her years at the Long Term Care residence volunteering during many fundraising events, selling raffle tickets and tickets for 50/50 draws to residents, visitors and staff there. Marie enjoyed good food, especially her deserts; she was a great movie fan, enjoyed bingo games, and sewed all her clothes. She loved to crochet and knit.

We wish to express our gratitude to all staff members at Revera Westside who cared for Marie Lorraine, especially her personal care worker, Emma, who has faithfully attended to her since she joined Revera. Our thanks also to the team in the Activity Department, and to Doctor Sidenberg.

Private family arrangements. Webcast graveside service will take place on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations, in memory of Marie Lorraine Chan, to St. Andrews Church-Building Fund would be appreciated by the family.
