Obituary for Joseph Alphonsus Fraser (Fraser)

FRASER, Joseph Alphonsus -

Joseph Alphonsus Fraser beloved Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend to so many arrived into the arms of loving mother Remigius and William Fraser in the coal mining town of New Waterford Nova Scotia in 1936.

Joseph was the second of nine siblings Charlie, Allister, twin brother Senley, Billy, Gerald, Carmel, Agnes and Mary whom he often shared loving stories of when they were growing up, The family was not financially rich - only rich in love, and there was a little opportunity for education. Joseph ended up working in the coal mines and later moved to Ontario working in the Uranium mines.

He suffered a broken back at the young age of 22, and the doctors said he would not walk again. However, Joseph proved them wrong and was able to not only walk again but even run. During his stay in the hospital he met Margaret Chown. They were Married in 1960, and eventually having three children whom he loved very much Joseph, Gregory and Theresa.

Joseph will also be missed dearly by his Grandchildren Shaun, Shannon, Mathew, Madeline, Marcus, Benjamin and Kate.

In his 40's Joseph's mobility was significantly reduced after further stress on the back from work. Although our father had a lot of pain and a very difficult life at times, Joseph's story is a lesson for us all - life isn't fair, accept that, make the best of what you have. Our dad found happiness in helping his family and friends. The lesson - We find happiness in helping others more than focusing on ourselves. On a personal level, Joseph was a great friend to have, always willing to help, always willing to listen and reserve judgement.

Joseph's Story is a story of triumph. Despite all of life's challenges thrown at Joseph, he rose above many of the setbacks and was able to find happiness in helping others. He was almost always a joy to be around, and never wanted to burden others with his own challenges.

Even though, Joseph is already very much missed by his family and friends, his lessons, kindness, and there wonderful memories will carry on in everyone he touched in his life.
