RADYK, Rosalie (Rose) -
After a remarkable life, our family matriarch left us peacefully (from natural causes) on Monday, May 4, 2020 at the age of 98. She is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband Bill. She is loved and remembered by her 2 daughters Nia (Dan Cameron) and Christine (Paul), grandchildren Becky (Curt), Kaley (Alex), Josh (Carolyn) and great-grandchildren Jordan, Grace, Brynn and Theo. Loved dearly by her sister Muriel and many nieces and nephews. Rose was a very successful businesswoman and founder of Georgetown Bowl (along with Bill and brother Peter). She was the 1st woman president of the Bowling Proprietors Association of Ontario and was very active in promoting the bowling industry. She was very proud of her Ukrainian heritage. Her lifelong devotion and faith in God served her well in many of life's challenges. Her caring and generous spirit touched all who knew her. We are so blessed to have had her to love for so many years, an extraordinary gift from God for us to treasure. A special thanks to everyone at Kipling Acres Long Term care for their outstanding care and compassion for Rosalie. You have our sincere admiration and appreciation, especially in these difficult past few months. Private family arrangements have taken place. A celebration of life to follow when it is safe to do so. Donations may be made to Kipling Acres Long Term Care or your favourite long term care home, or Daily TV Mass (National Catholic Broadcasting Council) call 1-888-383-6277 @

I was searching for the obituary of a friend who passed away last week and saw this memorial to Rosalie. 98 years is a ripe old age. While I did not know her, I hope that she had a joyful and interesting life. Please accept my belated condolences.

So sorry to hear of Aunt Rose's passing. That smile and distinctive laugh will remain with us forever. I still remember the great times we all had at the weekend gatherings at our grandparent’s farm. My mother sends prayers and well wishes to the family. My godmother will be sadly missed.

I had wonderful grandparents as a kid, but lost them all at a young age. When I joined the Cameron Clan, some pretty big perks came along with it, including having a grandmother in my life again.

When I think about Baba some pretty clear memories stand out.

• That she learned to drink coffee black because refilling her cup wasted too much time. Black coffee kept hot longer, gaining her more time to work during the long nights at the bowling centre
• Her observing how hard it must be to be a mother in modern times, when most women also work full time
• Her telling me she loved me, after she and I talked about how lucky I felt to have her in my life so long after losing my own grandparents
• How even in her final years, in the midst of losing her memory, she would always recognize Josh and even commented that she remembered him when he was “that young” during a visit to Kipling Acres when we took the girls.

The video I found of Baba holding newborn Grace captures the words Rose lived by that inspire us all to live by:

“There are all kinds of people that I’ve looked after and you know I pray to God all the time for my family and that’s why when you get older you need to remember to pray to God. Tell him, you know, I have all this wonderful family, I’ve got to look after them all, and I’ve got to teach people that this is the way a mother is supposed to look after her children. To make sure they’re ok and teach them so they can go on and teach their own children. So the world can keep on going.”

Thank you Rose for everything you taught us. Thank you for the wisdom, the blessings, the singing at holidays, and for the cottage- a place you created so your family would always have a place to end up.

Eternal love you to Baba xo
