Very sad indeed to hear the passing of Joe Takerer. I had Mr. Takerer for economics and he was our hockey coach leading us to a TDCAA Championship in 83\84. Mr. Takerer brought a very consistent passion to both his teaching and coaching which definitely had a positive affect on my life. He selected me to be captain of the team and I was always grateful for that honour and always tried my best to never let him down as he was the kind of person who made you want to be better. Thanks Joe.

So sorry - Joe was so young.

I vividly remember being in his economics class at Michael Power in 1977 in 12th Grade – although I never figured I’d use the knowledge he taught us after the class was over that semester…

And yet, I ended up in New York City - and worked on Wall Street for 25 years - and then started a web business based on statistical stock market analytics.

And “Mr. Tack” was the start of all of that.

But I’ll also never forget the fact that he knowingly looked the other way when we skipped our last class - his class - and went to exhibition stadium to see the Blue Jays play their first baseball game in April - and it snowed like crazy - but they won.

He was a great teacher – but he was also very realistic about what growing up through our teenager years was all about. And he helped you figure that out to if you asked him to.

Thoughts and blessings to his family and friends – he was a great man - I’m thankful I learned from and was affected greatly by.

I had the pleasure of working and traveling the Caribbean with Joe for years when we worked together at Michael Power St. Joseph's High School. Joe was a kind-hearted spirit who always walked to his own drummer. Today as I watched the sun set and listened to the waves roll onto the beach here in Thailand I knew just how much Joe would have loved this place - beach - water and possibly a cold beer. You will be missed by many Joe Takerer, I wish I could have been there to send you off.

I had a dream the other night that you were still coaching , even in heaven. Life goes on as your spirit will continue to be full of fun Andrea love. You're a good soul. Thanks for all you did while you were here on earth.
