Obituary for Emilia Foga (Sokolowski)

FOGA, Emilia (1943-2019) -
Passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at St. Josephs Health Centre at the age of 75. Emilia was born in Chlopiatyn, Ukraine on August 10, 1943. She and her family were involuntarily relocated to northern Poland in 1947, where she grew up and spent the first 2 decades of her life. She met her husband, Teodor Foga and was married for 53 years. Together they emigrated to Canada in 1967- looking for a better life. Shortly after arriving in Winnipeg, Manitoba, their 2 daughters, Irene and Myrosia were born. Emilia loved working with people and although there were many difficult times, she persevered and rapidly built up a hairdressing career. She enjoyed baking, cooking, spending time in nature, and being with family. After her 2 daughters completed their education and both moved to Toronto, Emilia and her husband decided to join their children. Unfortunately, shortly after arriving in Toronto, she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Sadly this disease began to eat away at her energy and began limiting her mobility. She struggled with this limitation but tried to continue with daily tasks. Her ability to ambulate eventually became quite restricted. “Baba” will be forever cherished by her four granddaughters, Roxoliana, Sarah, Juliana and Katerina - they meant the world to her. She was very proud of them and always looked forward to seeing them. She was a kind, warm, thoughtful, and caring person who touched everyone she met. Predeceased by her two brothers, Teodor and Andrzej Sokolowski and loving sister Anna Krawczuk. She will be deeply missed by her beloved husband, cherished daughters, devoted son-in-laws, John Wilkes and Andrew Tron, her adored grandchildren and by everyone who knew her. May she Rest In Peace- Vichnaya Pamyat!
