I loved uncle Al. He was my favorite uncle as he always had a huge smile on his face and a twinkle in his eyes. What I remember the most about him was a visit my parents made to see him and Auntie May when I was about 4 years old. He had let me play with a huge stuffed panda bear (which I guess belonged to Robert). It was as big as I was at the time and I absolutely loved it. There are pictures floating around somewhere of me and uncle Al and the bear. Unfortunately I didn't get to see my uncle Al, Auntie May or cousins much as our families got separated by a series of moves. Glad to be reuniting with Dave and Lurdes now.!!!
Hope I will get to meet everyone someday. My most heartfelt condolences to all the family.

My Dad, our Dad, had a very big heart. He had the looks of a Hollywood movie star. He had a warm smile that he loved to share. He was kind to everyone. And he was fair. He said that he treated all four of his children equally. That he had no favourite. But that was not quite true. Actually each one of us was his favourite. He had many jokes, most of them poor but some of them were really good. Nevertheless they put a smile on your face. He loved his wife dearly. He loved the kids, the grand kids and the daughter-in-laws and son-in-laws. But more than that he loved everyone else, neighbours, tellers at banks, workers at fast food chains and the list goes on. You might say these words describe many Dads and that is probably true. But there was one thing he had that no other Dad had. He was my Dad, he was our Dad. We love you dearly, we will miss you Dad.

Al loved to tell stories of his childhood growing up in New Westminster. His dad ran a fishing company in the Fraser River and Al worked there in the Summer. He remembered well some of the fisherman and their hard days at work. He wanted a different kind of life for himself. When he was about 22, having just graduated from UBC as an electrical engineer, he got on a many-day bus ride that brought him to his first job at the GE plant in Peterborough. That was the beginning of his independent life away from his family and from everything that was familiar. He adapted well to new situations and he built a career and a happy family that I am proud to be a part of today. Al was a kind and happy father and a good friend to all of us, always ready to give helpful ideas and advice with a touch of laughter. We know that he lives on in a better place. We carry on our happy memories. I will miss him very much. So long Al. Thank you for being the best ever father to Dave and to me, and to all your kids.
