Obituary

WEBBER, Margaret Winona Joy -
Margaret was born on March 3, 1938 and passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at Taunton Mills on Monday, April 8, 2019. Margaret was the only daughter of the late Leopold and Winona Blanche (née Ball) Webber. As a young child, she lived at the family farm at the corner of Rossland Road and Cochrane Street in Whitby. A longtime resident of Whitby, Margaret was known as a beloved piano teacher, an organist and choir leader for over 35 years for St. Mark’s United Church and several other congregations. Her lifelong dedication to music was demonstrated by her involvement with a number of local musical groups, including County Town Singers, Jubilee Choir, various church choirs and the choir of Taunton Mills. Music and her pets provided much pleasure for Margaret. She was proud to be the first woman to be named “Honourary Rotarian”. Margaret’s jovial personality and sense of humour made her a joy to be around. She will be dearly missed by all of her relatives and friends. Resting at W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL, 110 Dundas Street East, Whitby, with visitation on Sunday, April 14, 2019 from 2 - 4pm and 7 - 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Mark’s United Church, 201 Centre Street South, Whitby, on Monday, April 15, 2019 at 1pm. If desired, a donation to either of Margaret’s charities of choice, Canadian Cancer Society or the Humane Society Durham Region, would be appreciated. Saddened to hear of the passing of Marg. We moved from Whitby to Mississauga in 1990 but I had the pleasure of singing in the St Mark’s Choir from 1981-1990 and I was also the accompanist for the Whitby Rotary Men’s Choir with Marg as director. Lots of fun times together. Sincerest condolences to her family.

Wee Miss Margaret, I miss you so much! So many memories tinkling at the top of the piano while you played for the Jubilee choir that I soon became the accompanist/director for, as you and Barbara retired. So wonderful to know that as I play for the County Town Singers now, I'm filling the role you once filled for so many, many years. I loved our long chats out under the car port at your wee house and then after Jubliee choir practice on Wednesday afternoons once you moved into Taunton Mills. Know that I'll have lots of forehead kisses saved up for you when I join you there at the heavenly choir practice!!! I love you so much! See you soon!

Very sorry to see the passing of Margaret Webber and my condolences to her relatives and friends she knew.
My wife Marilyn was active in St Marks with the Choirs and music and we both knew Margaret well

Margaret was a wonderful person who enjoyed life and who provided much enjoyment to others. She was always ready to share a smile and story and she shared much of herself with her musical talents for as long as I knew her. Her music style was just like Margaret ... warm and always reaching into the hearts of her listeners. She will be welcomed into heaven and I would be surprised if she hasn't organized a new heavenly choir by this time. Margaret, you were a blessing to all who knew you. You were loved on earth as you will be in heaven. Thanks for being you. "And He will raise you up in eagle's wings." Ashton McMaster

Margaret was such a warm and friendly person. She was so helpful when I played the flute on occasion with the Jubilee choir, and a great friend of my grandfather Bob Coad. I always enjoyed chatting with her when she attended our County Town Singers shows. She will be greatly missed.
