ISTILOGLU Hristos Kimon -
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Kimon. After a courageous battle with prostate cancer that invaded his body, but never his spirit, he passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at home, surrounded by his family. Just short of his 88th birthday a true “green thumb” his garden will be missed by all his family and friends. A proud Canadian for over 51 years, a citizen of Constantinople in his heart from birth. He has lived a life full of love and strong connections, he will be missed by family and friends in Canada, Greece, Turkey, South Africa, England, United States and Zambia. Kimon will be deeply missed by his wife of 20 years, Evangeliya (Lili), his daughters Theresa Clare (Kevin), Maryann (John) and Helena. Papu delighted in his grandchildren: Alexander, Nicholas, Tyler and Logan Clare; Nikki and Christian Crawford, Amanda (Mike) Lynam. Cherished great grandfather to Peyton Clare, Katelyn and Jonathon Lynam. Predeceased by his first wife, Cleo, Kimon will be dearly missed by his sister Kiki Bulbuloglu and nephews Yanni Bulbuloglu (Rita) and family, and Stelios Bulbuloglu (Karin) and families in Turkey, his niece Nepheli Farasoglu (Mannoli) and family in Greece, very dear friend Sotirea (Soso) Tsikriktsioglu in Greece, his nephew George Vlahakis (Christina) and family in South Africa, his nephew Thomas Vlahakis (Gina) in South Africa, his niece Alexandra Moussios and family in South Africa, his niece Sophia Vezirianou (Yousif) and family in Greece, his niece Yuanna Tsakiri (Kiriakos) and family in Greece, his niece Marianna Vlahakis and family, his niece Mary Papantoniou (Dimitri) in Greece and his sister-in-law Anna Vlahakis in Greece. A proud member of the Canadian-Greek community in Toronto, Kimon was one of the founding members and inaugural president of the Greek Canadian Association of Constantinople, Toronto. Helping build a sense of community while building a life for his family in Toronto. Special thanks to Dr. Padraig Warde of Princess Margaret Hospital for his humane and caring attention to dad over many years. Thank you to Dr. Dimitra Trambakoulos for her special care, concern and support. Thanks to the entire staff of the Princess Margaret Hospital Palliative Care Unit who provided such excellent care to Kimon in the many weeks prior to his return home, with a special thank you to Dr. Macdonald and Dr. Hannon for being so caring and understanding. Special thanks to Amen and the community care staff who helped make it possible for him to die at home. Resting at NEWEDIUK FUNERAL HOME KIPLING CHAPEL 2058 Kipling Avenue, Toronto (North of Rexdale Boulevard) on Monday August 3, 2015 from 2-4pm & 6-9pm. Funeral service to be celebrated on Tuesday August 3, 2015 at 11am. Interment to follow at Sanctuary Park Cemetery.
