The sole reason I am telling this "story" is because it puts a loving, tender smile on my face, perhaps it will make his family smile a bit in these difficult times, and Chuck will smile a little too, in that fishing pond in the sky.
This goes back to before either of us was married. Chuck and I, along with 2 male comrades-in-arms (Dom & Emil) from Pius, had planned a trip (by car) to the Maritimes for part of the summer. The exact year eludes me at this time. Some of the events though, especially this one, remain clear as a bell. We had encountered a semi-truck, which was filled with live lobsters near Shediak, New Brunswick, I believe. We purchased 2 for each of us, 8 lobsters in all, with plans to roast them for dinner once we set up our tent at the campsite. All was hunky-dory with "the boys", but Chuck had "other plans". As with many "males", the stomach is always a priority, but not for Sir Charles ...... he had his eye (eh, both of them) on pretty Miss Alice Hudon, a secretary whom none of us was familiar with at that time. Anyways, to make a long story shorter, the 3 musketeers enjoyed those lobsters ..... and we enjoyed Chuck's lobsters too while he was traipsing all over New Brunswick with Miss Hudon. Charles, you couldn't have picked a better, more fitting lady. You made the right choice, my dear friend, and the proof is in the number of years you were married. We made the right "choice" too ..... those lobsters were delish! And yours were extra-tasty, to say the least. I hope this has made you smile, Bro. And I hope it has eased the pain, just a little, in the hearts of your beloved family ..... your wife Alice, your daughter Jennifer, and your son Jason. Rest in peace, dear Friend. You are already terribly missed.
